CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program based on constantly varied, functional movements performed at a high level of intensity. It is a broad and inclusive system that promotes the fitness required for life.  Our program is designed for universal scalability, meaning every workout can be modified to fit your current abilities. We utilize components from many athletic domains for our workouts, including calisthenics, gymnastics, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, rowing, sprinting, and others. The workouts are different each day, but are always exciting and challenging. A certified CrossFit trainer is present at every class to guide you through the workout, and we strive for quality of movement because safety is always paramount.  You do not have to be in shape or have prior training experience to do CrossFit, because every workout can be, and will be, tailored to your current fitness level.   If you would like to try it out, please click the link below to begin our OnRamp program(you must complete this series of classes before attending CrossFit classes).  Please remember that you must register yourself on the schedule page for each class that you plan to attend.

Boxing/Muay Thai

Our boxing and Muay Thai classes are designed for anyone(ages 12 and up) and all skill levels.   You will go through a warm-up, spend some time working on technique and skills, then do a circuit workout to finish off the class.  Each day will be varied, but movements will include bag and pad work, footwork drills, push-ups, squats, planking, and much more.  You will work on the Thai pads, boxing mitts, and punching bags as well.  This class is designed to help improve balance, coordination, strength, and most importantly self-confidence.

'The Barn' Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at CrossFit Aiken

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a predominantly ground-based martial art, using the principals of leverage, angles, pressure and timing, as well as knowledge of the human anatomy, in order to achieve a non-violent submission of one’s opponent. Unlike other martial arts that focus on strikes and/or kicks, jiu jitsu focuses on close-contact “grappling” holds and techniques, and the application of chokes and joint-manipulations.

Our classes focus on proper technique and prioritize safety first.  We are blessed to have 3 black belts that reguarly coach our classes:  Professors Matt Osteen, Ken Lucas, and John Bolton.  Our classes can suit any skill level, whether you are competitive or brand new and just want to learn a new skill.

Boot Camp

This class focuses on improving cardiovascular capacity, weight loss, and improving the overall tone of your body.  We use rowers, bikes, ski ergs, jump ropes, running, calisthenics, and light weights to help you achieve a great, low-impact workout.  This class is open to anyone(ages 14 and up), and is a great alternative to CrossFit for those that have no desire to lift heavier weights.  We focus more on body control, proper form, and better overall movement patterns to keep you safe, but get you a fantastic workout at the same time.  This class will be taught by Dana Baker, a CrossFit level 1 trainer who has been involved with CrossFit Aiken since it first opened in 2011.  It is open to both CrossFit members(for 5$) and non-members.  Please click the link below to see purchase options, and remember that you must register yourself on the schedule page before you attend a class.

Olympic Weightlifting

Technique is paramount when it comes to dynamic lifts like the snatch and clean & jerk. This class will primarily focus on perfecting those two movements, but you will also learn other important information.  We will show you how to properly warm-up, demonstrate and perform accessory lifts that will help improve your classical lifts, and watch videos of lifters of all levels to see and understand different nuances and technique styles.  This class is open to all skill levels and anyone 12 and older, and requires registration before attending.  You can purchase a single class or class packages to attend.  This class is free for Unlimited CrossFit memberships.

Being able to control your own body is crucial for everyone.  This class will focus on improving your overall coordination, balance, and agility.  It may seem daunting, but the beauty of gymnastics is that every movement has a progression.  Difficult movements, like the freestanding handstand and the L-Sit, are the end products of the mastery of a series of progressively easier movements.  We focus on finding a point that you are comfortable starting at, and slowly building strength and body control through proper form and use of the progressions.  This class is open to anyone ages 10 and up.  Please make sure to register if you plan to attend.  Classes can be purchased in single or multiple packages, and this class is free for all Unlimited CrossFit members.
